Welcome Aboard Phoenix! (I'm picturing you rising out of the ashes.)

WOW, you must have one heck of a life story, which I hope we'll hear more about as time goes by! I hope you don't mind me saying, but I'm impressed with your "teeping" skills considering everything. *<;oD

I noticed you already found docmacd's topic board. My guess is you two probably have a lot in common!!

We're glad you found us and we hope to see lots of you around the site and don't forget we have daily chats as well as special chats. Our PA Carolina would be happy to put you on the mailing list.

Tell us about the org you co-chair and founded.

P.S. What exactly did you mean by "older!?" I think I might resemble that remark. LOL!

P.P.S. Words are inadequate to tell you the depth of my gratitude for your service to our country and to the cause of freedom around the world.

Hey Phoenix...the way you feel kind of sounds well-rounded! LOL. I checked out your vets for vets site. I'm from Michigan and used to cruise Gratiot Ave back in the day. Up near SCS, Warren, Mt. Clemens (my old stomping grounds). Those were the days, my friend. I thought they'd never end. I'd sing and dance forever and a day...ahem...'scuse me...I got carried away!

I wanted to check out some of the posts and whatnot, but noticed I had to join (and possibly be a vet...?). I wanted to check it out a bit before forwarding/recommending to my personal email friends, many of whom are vets and a few active. Hope it's ok to join even tho I'm not a vet.

Keep a good thought, kiddo.

Phoenix, It is good to have you on board. You are a true definition of high speed! I am a Navy veteran of eleven years my self and appreciate having another amputee onboard to catch up with. I was medically retired after loosing my leg above the knee in Iraq. I wish I could have stayed in longer but it is what it is. Anhow chaeck out your yahoo group and plan to join. Wanted to show you somethin else if your are interested kinda something I think you might be doig yourself. Check out this link some time. http://www.vets4vets.us/ They seem to be a good group and I look forwad to going on one of there summits. Just a thought. I deal with pain and some spouts of depression from time to time. I find it comforting to deal with it through PT. I do not know where your physical abilities are but it helps with my anxiety and anger. I also still bring the fight to the enemy with with refusing to let them be a martyrs. Just felt like sharing. Anyhow look forward to further chats and I will catch up with you on your site.

I still own a thick red vinyl hi-fit recording of Pictures at an Exhibition, London Symphony Orch, conducted by Tchychovsky (sp?) I think, as well as a compilation of bands called Jazz at Oberlin. My God are we old or what!!??

I have to tell you this story...

I used to have so many books that they were falling out of closets and piled around the house and jammed into makeshift shelves. I loved them all and simply could not force myself to get rid of them, sooooooo...

my kid sister did what is now fondly remembered as The Great Book Intervention of 1987. She came over and boxed up all my books to give to the Salvation Army -- boxes and boxes and boxes and boxes and...it was ridiculous. I sat on the couch, clutching my stomach, and yelling things like "No, no not Steinbeck! Please let me keep The Rise and Fall of the 3rd Reich!"

It's kind of funny now, but it was pure he&& then!
