ok so the tax season is coming up and I've not had a job since I was medically discharged from the army. So, if someone could please remind me, do I have to file some kind of taxes with the compensation I receive? I remember filing last year but I got money back from something, but again can't remember why. (stupid head injury) If someone can just let me know if I should expect to file, or if I need to call someone, or if I am going to have to pay, or.... uhg. I'm needing some guidance. any help would be greatly appreciated!

Robo,

Your VA benefits are not taxable. Now I can't tell you if your Social Security aren't either. Call you local SS office in your area and ask. For VA info call 1-800-827-1000.

Do you live near a milliatary instalation? Most of them have tax help centers that will also help retirees. (I'm assuming you fall into this catagory... I'm still a little fuzzy on how the whole medical discharge thing works.)

I am 20% disabled by the VA and also receive SSDI. I do not file taxes on either of these.
