ekulas, The field of pain management anesthesiology has become excedingly cautious recently. if your doctor isn't helping you can find another doctor, however, that is seen as a red flag by doctors. Doctors want to develop a long term relationship and, in the field of pain management, they need to develop trust of the patient. In my practice I had patients complaining of being thrown out of their anesthesiologists practice and they didn't know why. I asked the anesthesiologist about it and he explained that pharmacies now send reports to doctors about other prescriptions that the patient is filling. These patients had been going to other doctors for the same medications.
So, unfortunately it has become your job to convinve your doctor that you are going along with the cautious approach he is taking and gradually convince him that it isn't working. The bottom line is that you will need other ways of dealing with the pain. Have you exhausted other methods such as acupuncture, massage, relaxation training, hypnosis, meditation, epsom salt baths?
